What’s New

2024

Notes: Add in the library of books I have. Add in fly tying. Add in cool shit.

September 22: Updating the Photography Page with notes and resources, working on the next interview. Attending the FFF Tour today. Upcoming day burner to the Sea of Cortez prep.

September 18: Updating theAbout Me Too Much Information. Nobody needs to know so much what the fuck about me like that. I took out a bunch of hang gliding and paragliding pics. I was good at it, I have nothing to prove. Foot launch soaring is hard, fishing is terribly easy in comparison.

September 15: The Saltwater Edge, Practical Saltwater Fly Fishing, Saltwater Fly Fishing Handbook, Secrets of the Saltwater Fly, Fly Box

September 14: escape

September 13: Updating links, Galvan Torque T-6 page. I’m at Sunset Beach, California at the Oceanview Motel relaxing after a good day of fly fishing a couple of beaches. Canters Deli & Bar, photography and writing here.

September 10: Interview with Dan Blanton, published all other pending pages.

September 8: Sketching, Sting Ray and some other stuff. I’ll post all of these soon.

September 7: Sent off the next interview. I have one more to do, a husband and wife team. I’ll start theirs next week, then I’m done till next spring. Updating links and photography pages. Starting to get ready for next weekend at beach x.

September 4: Modern Saltwater Sport Fishing added to the bookshelf. I will post the book page and others that stack up in a few weeks when I send off the next interview. I think I’m going to front page the interviews and then post content in between. Batch content, interviews, etc.

September 3: Interview with Al Quattrocchi posted! Ive heard from my coder, he can do the forum! But I’m going to think about it. Forums are a pain. But I think it would be fun. I’ve started on the next interview.

September 2: I am in communication with an old acquaintance about building a forum. Also, I’ve finished the first interview and have secured two (actually three, the third is a husband and wife team) more. I’m also nervous. There are too many nice things going on with this. Doors are opening again, I’m going fishing in Southern California in two weeks and to the Sea of Cortez in about a month, to Puert Vallarta in November. I’ll take the goodness but I’m nervous of being too happy. I need to talk to my crystal mojo friends and escape the negativity. Anyway, I finished out the TRAVEL page and checked my work. A single page where everything is at, I made it for me but it is very useful. Updating the LINKS page. I have finally got a good idea for the KITCHEN page to…

September 1: Adding in what equipment I used and where on the fish pages. Working the angle on the Kitchen page. I’m going to take a break and finish up the first interview. Now done and sent. Just got the word from an absolute rock star fly fisher! He said let’s do it! So, I do best with a regular line up, the third request is out, hopefully will accept. Back in the game, super excited to be writing again.

August 31: I put in an inquiry to a coder about creating a forum to be attached to the site or stand alone under the beach-fisher domain. He is excellent and no forum that he has created has been hacked. They are basic but fun. This is a simple inquiry because if he can’t do it, it’s not getting done. I’m not going through that head ache again. Also, tidying up some of the entries and working on the travel page. The intent there is to have a “one spot” for travel links, a useful page for traveling salt water fishers.

August 30: I just registered the domain, beach-fisher

I’m filling out the Contents page. Organizing search terms, adding in stories and descriptions. Hopefully making the site more interesting and useful and more importantly, enjoyable.

August 29: Adding in images, correcting spelling, working on Valentine and Friends… Just having fun with it. I want to have a good foundation as I am getting nearer to the off season.

August 28: I found out via the Internet that the fish I chase in the flats is a Cortez Croaker. Finally, after many moons, I know the name. So I am going to make a few pages on expected catches in the Mar de Cortez and the Southern California beaches. It wasn't in the loose plan but it is now. I'm having fun with it, doing it.

August 27: Orvis Shooting Star Bamboo, working on the first interview here. I also found a bunch of photos from grassart.net, a bamboo rod making site I used to make. I'm working through that repository and have already found some good material like the above Shooting Star info.

August 26: 100% of my attention is going into Beach-Fisher. The season is winding down and the soaring season is about to start. I will SWFF year-round however, the summer, when it is miserably hot in Phoenix, I don’t fly my sailplanes so it’s perfect for me because the fishing season is HOT in the Pacific and in the Sea of Cortez. The shoulder seasons I can fish streams and big Western rivers.

It’s what I do, this is a good rhythm for me.

I’m writing my first interview for the site, a famous author/editor who is actually becoming a friend. I have plans for a series of interviews. Local legends, regional and nationally known saltwater fly fishers as well.

Beach-Fisher is fun to create, and I hope we all learn a little something along the way

I don't know how old the site is, at least 3 or 4 years old. I only started filing it out last year. It originally started out as a conventional and fly-fishing site, I may add in some conventional gear as move into the future, I don't know, it doesn't matter.
