From a social media post: I used to make bamboo fly rods. I also enjoy SWFF and studying up on my subject brought me to Joe Brooks. I read up on what he used, sourced a nice rod and reel and used it in the N end of the Sea of Cortez. The following are some of the images of my Shooting Star. A GAF line rod that kicked my ass. They are heavy. Sweet casting, beautiful but not like a modern stick you can cast all day every day for many days. Guess you had to be a baddass to fish the salt in the 50’s
